A hardware collector scouring an electronics liquidation warehouse in Silicon Valley has uncovered an authentic pre-production prototype of the groundbreaking 1996 3dfx Voodoo Graphics accelerator.
The board bears hallmark engineering traits: hand-soldered jumper wire bodge fixes, unmasked green prototype PCB substrate, and prototype silicon stamped 'SST-1 Engineering Sample - Confidential.'
Following ultrasonic flux cleaning and trace inspection, the card was seated into a Socket 7 Pentium MMX 233 MHz testbench running Windows 95 OSR2. Paired via VGA pass-through with a 2D card, it smoothly fired up GLQuake and Tomb Raider via the native Glide API.
Benchmarking tests confirm the board delivers the silky-smooth bilinear texture filtering and alpha blending that instantly catalyzed the PC 3D graphics revolution.
