Computer History Museum Demonstrates Operational 3dfx Rampage Prototype

Restoration engineers at the Computer History Museum have achieved full operational boot on a surviving 3dfx Rampage engineering board—the legendary cancelled flagship engineered prior to 3dfx's late 2000 demise.

Paired with the Sage hardware Transform & Lighting coprocessor, the board executed native Glide tech demos and 3DMark 2000 tests on a vintage Intel 440BX test bench at native 1024×768 resolution.

Curators highlighted that Rampage featured per-pixel shading architectures far ahead of its time, demonstrating the extraordinary technical pedigree of 3dfx's final engineering vanguard.
